Pressure ulcers, a significant healthcare concern for patients with limited mobility, pose a considerable clinical challenge. The research assesses the competencies of 101 registered and practicing nurses, offering a comprehensive look at their understanding of pressure ulcer causes, prevention strategies, and management techniques.
The study reveals encouraging results, with over 96% of nurses demonstrating awareness of the primary cause of pressure ulcers and 94% recognizing the importance of regular patient repositioning. These findings not only highlight the current state of nursing knowledge but also pave the way for potential improvements in patient care, healthcare quality, and cost reduction. This research provides valuable insights that could shape future training programs and protocols for pressure ulcer prevention and management in healthcare settings.
